Update on Builds

Posted in Build Admin Stuff by ryan on the February 24th, 2008, 05:47

Yes, I know the builds have been broken - I turned off the 2.4 build since that series is done, and build system changes means that right now Trunk (old CVS HEAD) has a few difficulties building on Windows. However, there is a 2.6 series, and I just finished what should be a complete fix and update of that build process, so you should start seeing 2.6 preview (NOTE THESE ARE NOT OFFICIAL 2.6.0 RELEASE BUILDS!) builds coming through soon. I’ve also added useful info to the subject so those of you using RSS have more info at a glance, and have added a download link to the build blog posts. Hopefully this is useful in testing and QA so that we can get 2.6 stable and out the door!

Update on Build Blog Features

Just a note of a more technical nature - I’ve set up the blog so that the build results (generally uneventful) are not displayed on the front page unless they fail. You can still access all the build logs by clicking the “Show Build Results Only” link on the top of each page, but hopefully this will help improve the signal-to-noise ratio for the average reader, and prevent the ACOP posts from getting lost among the CVS updates and successful builds.

As always, if you’d like to contribute a link or writeup to the AbiWord Community Outreach Project, just visit the About the Editors page on the right hand side for more info.

Workaround for funky RSS…

If you’re having trouble loading the RSS feed, until I fix the issue with the build logs, you can use this address through google blogsearch to load the feed properly. That is an HTML page, with a link to a re-written summary RSS file made by google.

RSS funky, any ideas?

Hey everyone who’s staying up to date with Abi stable builds - I have a quick question. I can access this RSS feed just fine with Mozilla Thunderbird and Liferea (both in Ubuntu Dapper). Uwog reports he can too. However, Sum1 can’t (some error about invalid CDATA section) and so I’m wondering if anyone has any insight or further testing results. I’d really like to get to the point where anyone can freely subscribe to the RSS and stay up to date, ideally with multiple platforms. If this involves re-syndicating this feed on an AbiSource build planet (hint hint) and release of my build-blogger script, I’m all for it.

Welcome to the AbiWord Build bLog

Please add our RSS feed to keep up to date with the most recent nightly (or more frequent) builds of AbiWord!  More platforms will hopefully be added soon.
